Mobile Phone: more than just communication.

In this modern era, there are many inventions of advanced technology like computers, laptops, and mobile phones. In the past, people only used letters and home phones to communicate, but nowadays all people in the world can use a mobile phone to communicate and keep in touch with others.

Mobile telephones have brought many benefits for people in daily activities, such as it is easier to communicate and the phones are portable (easy to bring anywhere). It also can help people in doing their business by using its features. Usually, people use the mobile phone for making calls or sending messages but now it has changed.  The latest model like Nokia N-series or Blackberry used advanced technology so they provide many features like camera phone, GPRS, Bluetooth, the internet network, TV, and so on. Furthermore, we can use a mobile phone to write our ideas and it is useful to compose songs. The other positive aspects are the cost and the speed. It is cheaper to communicate with a mobile phone than a home phone or sending a letter because we can send the messages by SMS (Short Message Service). It only costs less than Rp. 100 to each number and we can save money if use the same provider as our family, friends and relatives. Moreover, it is also faster to send messages by mobile phone than to send letters by post. We can send the messages by SMS and in a few seconds, the receiver will read the messages.

On the other hand, mobile phones may also have a bad impact on our lives. People tend to be ‘consumptive’ and spend their money on buying more vouchers or pay high bills every month. The model of mobile phones is changing. The new models and gadgets, which have many features or programmes in it make people want to change their old hand phone to a new one. It not because their hand phones are bad or cannot be used anymore. They change their hand phones only for satisfaction and prestigious. Another negative effect is mobile phones can cause health problem such as brain tumor because of its radiation.

In conclusion, I believe that mobile phones have changed our lives. We gain many advantages by using mobile phone and it helps many people to do their business. Although mobile phone has negative impacts, it will not disturb our life if we can use it wisely and appropriately.
